i have been lifting for about 6 months and now everyone tells me how buff i am and asks if i take steroids and all that stupid crap. some of my friends have been lifting for 3-4 years and are not very muscular. it all depends on what u do in the gym and the most overlooked thing is DIET. if u list maybe ur diet and training i could give a better answer or just email me for any q's. u should notice some changes in a month or two, but it takes time to get big.

It all depends what you do to what intensity and what you eat. I've been lifting just over a year and have put on approx 28 pounds, I lift about twice a week, heavy 8 to 10 reps, always to failure. I just do compound movements, bench press, squats and deadlifts and back work. Common misconception is to do too much. You need to consume more calories particularly protein sources and if you can divide your meals up six times a day and get at least 8 hours good sleep. Drink plenty of water this will help the processing of protein.
You tend not to notice your own gains as they are gradual but others notice them in you, that's why its important to track your weight. Experienced and professional lifters can put on about a pound of muscle mass per week
