Creatine is great! as long as you drink A LOT of water you should be fine and it will make you stronger!
Creatine just pulls all of the water from around your body into your muscles. it will help you work out harder and longer making you stronger. the reason you need to drink a lot of water is because its common to become dehydrated.

my understanding of creatine is that it is produced in the liver (and taken as creatine supplements!), and most of it is stored in the muscle tissue.
It helps build muscle as well as improving athletic ability.
I have used it in the past, and after finishing the tub I did think I'd achieved more strength, and it helped me improve my 5 rep max for the bench press.
I would only use it to get over a training plateau though ie if you have reached the peak of your lifting ability!
