However, to answer your question bodybuilding is on the same level of any other material possession used to gain status over others; to make one feel achievement when compaired to their peers. It's just like the guy who buys a vet or wears DNKY. You get noticed and you enjoy the feelings that accompany it. There is also the feeling of being HIGH from releasing endorphins, which can be addicting.
